Our commitment to mental
health & wellbeing

At PACT, we believe that supporting the wellbeing of our students and members is not just a nice bonus, it's absolutely essential.

We recognise that dog training, whilst being one of the best jobs in the world, can also be an emotionally and mentally demanding profession, and we're committed to creating a supportive and nurturing environment where everyone can thrive.

At PACT we take a holistic approach, prioritising the emotional, physical, and mental wellbeing of our community. We offer a range of resources and initiatives designed to foster connection, encourage self-care, and promote a healthy work-life balance. We believe that by supporting the whole person, we empower our members to become the best dog trainers they can be, both for themselves and for the dogs in their care. We work hard to create a truly unique and supportive learning environment.

This commitment to wellbeing is extended to other organisations, as we look to support compassion, connection and care across the whole sector.

All of our students on our accreditation pathways are taught and assessed inline with the industry leading Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) standards. These progressive standards now cover mental health and wellbeing, here is an extract from the Animal Training Instructor (Dog Trainer) role:

”How to recognise compassion fatigue and emotional burden in self, colleagues and owner/guardian/handler, and when and where to seek support.”

You can find out more about the ABTC standards here via the role standards and how they link to Wellbeing via their website https://abtc.org.uk/practitioners-info/.
